Dennis Quaid is fighting corruption from an unlikely place — his flower shop — in his new movie.

In The Florist (debuting on digital and on demand Oct. 9), Quaid’s “meticulous hitman [is] living under the guise of a quiet neighborhood florist,” per an official synopsis. He “must wage a two-front war against a ruthless drug cartel and a syndicate of corrupt cops to protect a teenage witness who has nowhere else to turn,” it concludes.

A first trailer and images shared exclusively with PEOPLE show Quaid, 72, emerging from his shop to take bad guys to task.

“Something bad happened. And I’m the witness,” Sky Katz, who plays the story’s teen runaway, tells him in the new trailer. “How are you going to help me? You own a flower shop.”

Quaid’s brief, preternaturally confident response says it all: “Trust me.” Cue the fast-paced shootouts and fiery explosions.

Directed by Babak Najafi and written Scott Windhauser, Eran Creevy and Ethan Suess, The Florist costars Jean Reno, Anna Schafer, Leonidas Gulaptis and Dylan Flashner. Najafi, 50, directed 2016’s hit Gerard Butler thriller, London Has Fallen.

“Audiences continue to have a voracious appetite for well-made action thrillers,” producer Ellen Wander said of the movie’s production company, Film Bridge International, in a statement to Deadline in May 2025, when filming in New York and New Jersey had concluded.

Calling The Florist “a bold, high-energy thriller with real emotional stakes,” she added that the film “delivers the best of the genre.”

After recently appearing in War Machine and Signal One, Quaid also has A Dog’s Perfect Christmas among his upcoming screen projects.
