Janelle Brown Shares Date Night Photo with New Boyfriend Pete After Their Hard Launch Left ‘Sister Wives’ Fans Shocked

Janelle Brown is sharing glimpses of her budding romance.

The former reality star, 57, shared an Instagram post on Sunday, Aug. 30, documenting a date night between herself and her new boyfriend, whom she has identified only by his first name, Pete.

“A beautiful evening by the water (this may be becoming a theme for us 😃),” the Sister Wives star wrote in the caption of her post. “Had dinner while we watched the boats.”

The photo shared showed the couple backdropped by sailboats. Pete’s arm could be seen wrapped around Janelle.

The look at the couple’s romantic waterside dinner comes less than two weeks after Janelle hard-launched her new relationship, shocking fans of the TLC reality series.

Janelle first revealed her new relationship with Pete on Instagram on Tuesday, Aug. 18, four years after announcing her split from husband Kody Brown.

“Some chapters are meant to unfold quietly before they’re shared,” Janelle captioned a smiley selfie with her new boyfriend. “I wasn’t looking. I certainly wasn’t expecting you. And somehow, you turned out to be exactly what I didn’t know I needed. And it has been pretty wonderful.”

“Everyone please meet Pete,” she concluded the caption.

Janelle and Kody, 57, were spiritually married in 1993 and share six children: Logan, 30, Madison, 30, Hunter, 28, Gabriel, 23, Savannah, 20, and Garrison, who died by suicide in 2024 at age 25.

Janelle was Kody’s second wife after Meri Brown. Following Christine Brown‘s decision to leave Kody in 2021, Janelle followed suit in 2022, announcing the end of their nearly 30-year marriage.

After the split, Janelle relocated to North Carolina to be close to daughter Madison and her grandchildren.

During a reunion episode of the show released the following year, Janelle expressed her inner turmoil regarding her views on her union with Kody.

“I deeply believe in my faith,” Janelle said at the time. “I have been so much at peace that I don’t know how to reconcile that. So that’s where my debate with myself is all the time because I know I’m happy.”

“I don’t want him to come back, but my faith requires that we are married eternally,” added the star, who is a member of a church called Apostolic United Brethren.

“Because we never were legally married, I can’t really say I’m divorced,” Janelle later echoed in a 2024 interview with PEOPLE. “I just say ‘I’m no longer with’ [him] when I explain it to outside people. I’m like, ‘I’m no longer with my partner.’ ”

She continued to shut down the idea of opening herself back up to love, including stating that she’s “not really interested” in dating during a 2025 appearance on the Sibling Revelry podcast.

“My marriage is over. I don’t know what I’m gonna do,” the Sister Wives alum said on the podcast. “I’m not really interested in getting married again or even really dating at this stage. So I’m not even thinking about, like, ‘Oh, what do I need to do?’ Because I’m just like, I am over [it].”

Earlier this year, however, Janelle revealed that she was granted a “spiritual release” from the marriage by her church. “I am free,” she said at the time.

In addition to Christine and Janelle’s splits from Kody, his first wife, Meri, also ended their marriage in 2023. Robyn Brown, whom he legally married in 2014, remains Kody’s only wife.
