Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff doubled down on his remarks about White House aide Natalie Harp after angering President Donald Trump’s staff and allies this week
“It’s been amazing to watch this White House melt down over this all week,” Ossoff said on MS NOW on Wednesday, Aug. 19
Ossoff accused Harp of “printing out Donald Trump’s daily dose of delusion and flattery” and the White House of “lying the country into war”
Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff doubled down on his jab at White House aide Natalie Harp after angering President Donald Trump’s staff and allies this week.
At a rally on Sunday, Aug. 16, the Georgia Democrat drew the ire of top White House officials after he mentioned the ever-present assistant who is reportedly among the president’s most devoted subordinates.
On Wednesday, Aug. 19, Ossoff broke his silence on the Trump administration’s furious response — including calling the senator “a miserable person who hates this country” — to the growing scrutiny of Harp’s role and relationship with the president.
“It’s been amazing to watch this White House melt down over this all week,” Ossoff said on MS NOW’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on Wednesday night. “And about Natalie Harp: these White House staffers are adults, public officials paid by the taxpayer with immense power in positions of public trust.”

The senator, who is currently running for reelection, said that “no one cares about their feelings” and argued Harp, 35, is fair game for scrutiny as the aide who reportedly serves as a conduit for much of Trump’s social media consumption and even communications from world leaders, according to The New York Times.
Ossoff accused Harp — reportedly nicknamed the “human printer” in a nod to one of her daily responsibilities of printing news articles and social media comments to share with the president — of “printing out Donald Trump’s daily dose of delusion and flattery.”
And he argued the sailors on the Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln are fighting Trump’s war in Iran “based on lies, while he plays with his new ballroom, flies around on a jet given to him by a foreign prince and retreats into this circle of sycophantic aides who tell him every day what he wants to hear, not what he needs to hear.”
Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have dismissed allegations of low morale among the aircraft carrier’s 5,000 personnel, including reports that multiple sailors attempted to jump overboard, as its deployment to the Middle East has stretched on for hundreds of days.
“This entire White House is responsible for lying the country into war. And for the rest of their careers, they will be known for having participated in this obscenity,” Ossoff added.
“Natalie Harp is one of the most loyal and hardest working aides on President Trump’s team,” spokesperson Davis Ingle tells PEOPLE in a statement, calling Ossoff “a feminine theatre kid,” “lightweight,” and “cringeworthy.”

“Any White House staffers found to have fed these attacks against Natalie Harp should be fired immediately,” Utah Sen. Mike Lee wrote on X on Thursday.
At a Sunday rally in Georgia, Ossoff needled Trump for accepting a new Air Force One plane from the autocratic monarchy of Qatar and for reportedly hiding in a catering truck to switch to a different plane in Turkey last month.
On Monday, Aug. 17, White House communications director Steven Cheung responded on X with sexually explicit insults and urged Ossoff to “look deep into his soul and ask himself why he’s a miserable person who hates this country.”

The Trump administration has strongly pushed back on media coverage of Harp in other official White House statements this week, writing that CNN reporter Kristen Holmes’ children will one day be “sickened and embarrassed to have a parent be so callous and vindictive” and calling longtime Times reporter Maggie Haberman’s commentary on Harp evidence of a “creepy obsession” with the president.
Haberman and fellow Times journalist Jonathan Swan previously reported that Harp left “adoring letters” in Trump’s “personal spaces,” describing the president as her “Guardian and Protector in this Life“ and writing “you are all that matters to me” and “I want to bring you joy.”
Haberman referred to Harp as the president’s metaphorical “binky” or “comfort blanket” during a Sunday discussion on MS NOW about Trump reportedly bringing Harp and other close aides with him on his secret flight out of Turkey while the administration publicly claimed he was on Air Force One.

Harp began working for Trump regularly in 2022 after first coming to his attention in 2019 during a Fox News appearance where she praised him and credited his policies for saving her life after a “rare and terminal” bone cancer diagnosis.
Reporters covering the administration have noted Harp has been a constant presence at the president’s side in the years since, including in the Oval Office. CNN reported on Wednesday that she once rode in the trunk of an SUV in Trump’s motorcade to a court appearance after a “screaming match” over space restrictions in the lobby of New York City’s Trump Tower.
Harp’s estranged brother, Preston Harp, called the reported incident “sad” and evidence of an “unhealthy obsession” with the president during a CNN appearance on Wednesday. The White House has not commented on the incident.
The Times reported this week that Harp never takes a day off, texts with world leaders trying to reach Trump, and drafts Trump’s frequent social media posts and digs up interesting memes to reshare — allegedly including the racist video depicting former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as apes.
“All of you will go off and make money,” Trump reportedly once told other staffers, according to Haberman and Swan’s most recent book Regime Change. “She’ll never leave me.”
