Serena Williams’ oldest daughter knows exactly what her mom needs.

On Thursday, Aug. 20, the legendary tennis player, 44, shared a snap on Instagram, showing off a sweet interaction between her and her daughter Olympia, 8. In the photo, Williams and her eldest daughter, whom she shares with husband Alexis Ohanian, embraced each other in a tight hug.

“Sometimes all I need is her hug. @olympiaohanian” she captioned the post.

In addition to Olympia, Williams and her husband share daughter Adira, whom they welcomed in August 2023.

In an April 2024 interview with Byrdie, Williams was asked what brings her the most happiness in life. She answered, “my kids,” admitting, “I can’t say that a Wimbledon trophy holds a candle to volunteering at my kid’s school.”

Back in April, Williams shared a carousel of photos on Instagram, recounting her weekend with her family. In one photo, Williams could be seen wearing a blue printed dress and a blue belt, posing in front of her two daughters. Olympia held up a peace sign, wearing a white dress with flowers. Her little sister Adira threw up her own mini peace sign, posing in a blue dress with flowers.

Another photo showed Williams and her two daughters standing alongside her husband. The Reddit co-founder smiled while holding Adira in the rare family photo.

“I don’t share these moments often, but being their mom is my favorite place to be,” Williams wrote in her caption. “I’m with them 363 out of 365 days a year — and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. This weekend was everything.”

In January, Williams appeared on an episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle and opened up about life with her two daughters. The former professional athlete shared that she sometimes catches herself favoring her younger daughter.

Asked about her daughters’ personalities, Williams said, “The older one is so sweet, Olympia is so sweet.”

“Is she a good big sister?” co-host Sheinelle Jones asked.

“She’s the best big sister! And then the little one, Adira, she’s feisty, but she’s nice,” said the mom of two. “I mean, I’m obsessed. I’m the youngest, so I always have to make sure that I’m not being, you know, not necessarily favorites, but being too nice. ‘Let her have it! Let her do it!’ Because Olympia will be like, ‘No!’ And I’m like, ‘No, let her do it!’ ”
