Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke are embracing single life as friends and supporting each other’s dating journeys

The exes revealed they’ve never used dating apps and prefer meeting people organically or through Instagram

Season 11 of Summer House will feature a single cast, new housemates and a Below Deck crossover trip

Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke are navigating single life together — this time, strictly as friends.

Nearly three years after ending their engagement, the Summer House exes tell PEOPLE they’ve reached a place where they can not only celebrate each other’s dating lives, but even offer a little advice along the way.

The Bravo stars met while filming the first season of Summer House in 2016, but remained platonic before briefly dating during season 4 and ultimately deciding they were better off as friends. They rekindled their romance in 2021, later moving in together as Hubbard, 40, supported Radke, 41, through his sobriety journey and she made the decision to freeze her eggs.

Radke proposed to Hubbard in Southampton in August 2022, with the romantic moment captured for the show’s seventh season. However, in September 2023, just months before they were set to wed, Radke called off the wedding, writing in a letter to family and friends obtained by PEOPLE that Hubbard was “devastated” and he was “crushed with how all this transpired.”

While speaking to PEOPLE at the Television Academy’s Televerse Festival on Friday, Aug. 15, Hubbard and Radke opened up about their new dynamic as they film season 11 of the Bravo series.

“We’re trying to help wingman [for each other] too,” Radke said of looking out for one another this summer.

“Yeah, a little bit,” Hubbard agreed, adding, “I’ve given advice along the way.”

Radke said it ultimately comes down to “celebrating each other’s singleness” and supporting whoever may come into the other person’s life.

“I want her to be respected and find someone and have fun and be treated well,” he said of Hubbard. “And, like, of course I care about whoever that is, so I’m going to be there to be supportive.”

But Radke also had a warning for any potential suitor who doesn’t treat his ex-fiancée well. “And if he f---s up, we’ll have some words with him,” he joked.

“Yeah, exactly. Don’t f---up,” Hubbard added.

For Radke, being able to have those conversations with Hubbard is particularly meaningful given everything they’ve been through together. “I care a lot about this person,” he said. “She’s been in my life for a long time, and the fact that we’re where we are right now, it means a lot to me.”

“And it’s been really just healthy, and I love the chapter that we’re on right now,” he continued. “For real.”

“We’re enjoying it,” Hubbard agreed. “It’s been really fun.”

The friendly exes are also taking a similar approach to meeting potential partners, as neither has ever used a dating app.

“I never have,” Radke insisted when asked if that was still the case.

“I never have either,” Hubbard revealed. “We’re not dating app people.”

Radke joked that, in his eyes, Instagram already serves much the same purpose.

“I feel like Instagram is the dating app because ultimately when you go — here’s my hot take — when you get on a dating app, your goal is to get their Instagram and ultimately get their phone number,” he explained. “That’s the goal in the end of it. So why don’t you just start with Instagram?”

As for whether their reality TV fame has resulted in plenty of people sliding into their DMs, Radke acknowledged that it comes with the territory.

“Yeah, I mean, we always have been,” he said. “Some of the DM sliding has definitely — it’s been a thing with our show for a while.”

Though he admitted he would “entertain” DMs in the show’s earlier years, Radke said these days he’d rather make a connection another way.

“I’d rather meet someone organically or through a mutual friend or just in our life,” he explained.

Hubbard, meanwhile, explained she only recently began to feel fully like herself again after navigating a busy and emotional postpartum period following the birth of her daughter, Gemma Kufe, on December 8, 2024, whom she shares with her former partner, biotech investor. Hubbard and Kufe split in early 2025, roughly five months before public confirmation.

“I didn’t really feel back in my body and myself until, like, March or April of this year for a million different reasons,” the mom of one explained. “Last year was just, like, a lot. There was a lot going on. I was very busy. I was stressed out. There were two TV shows. I was trying to be a new mom... [and]... postpartum.”

Hubbard said that despite normally being “a very, very confident person,” she “just was not feeling 100, 100% until” springtime.

Then something clicked.

“March and April hit and I’m like, ‘All right. And I’m back. Watch out,’ ” she said.

Hubbard and Radke won’t be the only ones embracing single life when Summer House returns. According to Radke, the upcoming season marks an unusual first for their longtime friend group.

“For the first time in the history of our group, we are all single, which is kind of crazy,” he said. “There’s always been someone who’s got something going on with a relationship, but it’s a new chapter.”

The revelation immediately reminded Hubbard of Kyle Cooke‘s declaration during the show’s first season.

“Oh my God, remember when Kyle was like, ‘No couples. Rule number one: no couples in the Summer House‘?” she recalled.

Radke noted Cooke was talking about Hubbard and her then-boyfriend Everett Weston at the time.

“There’s a clip that I’m sure someone could find, but Kyle basically was in his green-screen interview and he’s like, ‘No couples in the Summer House,’ ” Radke recalled.

Now, years later, the cast is finally putting that philosophy to the test.

“Trust me, it’s fun,” Radke teased. “There’s a lot going on, and singles should be fun, and it is. Season 11 will be fun.”

And the new relationship dynamics aren’t the only changes coming. Hubbard and Radke teased a summer that has included Hubbard’s 40th birthday celebration, the cast’s first-ever group trip as part of a Below Deck crossover, a brand-new house and some new faces.

“We have new castmates. We have new friends joining the house,” Hubbard said. “I mean, it’s gonna be a really good season.”

“It’s a really good summer, a really good season, and there’s already been some really good stuff,” Radke added. “We needed to move on from all of that, and I think we’re doing a really good job so far.”

“Exactly,” Hubbard agreed.

All 10 seasons of Summer House are available to stream on Peacock. Season 11 is currently in production.
