An American Airlines flight blew out its tires while landing in Chicago, officials have said.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed in a statement that the incident involved American Airlines Flight 386. The aircraft had departed from LaGuardia Airport in New York City, before landing at Chicago O’Hare International Airport at around 2 p.m. local time on Monday, Aug. 17.

Crew on the Boeing 737-800 reported “two blown tires” after landing safely in Chicago, the FAA said. The agency did not confirm what might have caused the tires to blow out or how the incident happened.

There were 180 individuals onboard the flight at the time of the incident, NBC 5 Chicago reported, citing Air Traffic Control.

Passengers exited the plane via stairs and were transported by bus to the terminal, the FAA said in its statement.

American Airlines said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE, “American Airlines flight 386 experienced a tire issue after landing safely at Chicago (ORD). Per procedure, first responders met the aircraft out of an abundance of caution and customers were transported safely to the terminal by bus.”

“The aircraft has been taken out of service to be inspected by our maintenance team. We thank our team members for their professionalism and we apologize to our customers for their experience,” the airline added.

American Airlines said that no injuries had been reported on the flight, per ABC News.

The incident remains under investigation by the FAA.

The incidents occurred at different parts of the airport, the New York Post reported. The blowouts are not believed to be connected.

A United Airlines spokesperson said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE, “After arriving at Chicago O’Hare, United flight 739 sustained tire damage. Customers deplaned via airstairs and buses took them back to the terminal.”
