Sandra Bullock Shares Her Daughter Laila’s Hilarious Stipulation for Anyone She Dates

Sandra Bullock‘s daughter has a dating rule for her famous mom.

Bullock’s 13-year-old daughter Laila thinks it’s time for the Oscar winner to get back on the dating scene, but she has certain rules in place for who her mom picks.

“She said I needed to date, but only, someone where they can get stuff,” Bullock quipped on the Thursday, Sept. 3 episode of Kylie Kelce‘s Not Gonna Lie podcast, before clarifying, “So I said, ‘A rapper, a basketball player? That’s the parameters? Like, what is it?’ She’s like, ‘Yeah.’ ”

While currently single, Bullock, 62, was previously in a long-term relationship with photographer Bryan Randall, who died in August 2023 after a lengthy, private battle with ALS. He was 57.

Randall was diagnosed years before his death, and Bullock previously shared on the SmartLess podcast, saying, “I started grieving Bryan four years before he passed,” adding he “was ill for half of our relationship.”

The actress and Randall co-parented her son Louis and daughter Laila, as well as Randall’s daughter from a previous relationship, Skylar Staten Randall.

“It doesn’t scare me — not the illness itself, it doesn’t scare me,” she added in her SmartLess interview. “I can see and be around just about anything. But I had two young kids that were navigating it, especially a little girl who saw [Randall] as a father figure.”

Unrelated to her dating life, Bullock, who is also mom to son Louis, 16, noted on Not Gonna Lie that Laila is famous for being “brutal” with her comments. She shared an anecdote about a recent Zoom call she had when her daughter passed by before it began.

“She went, ‘You know, you can put a filter on that.’ And I went, ‘What?’ She goes, ‘You know, you can make yourself look better.’ And she just types in. She slides [it over and] put it right there. And it was literally, like, someone taking Vaseline and smeared on the lens and put a sheet in front of my face,” she shared.

Bullock added that her Zoom is “still on that same setting.”

And while Laila’s comments might cut, Bullock said she appreciates the honesty.

“How bad if I’d gone on that Zoom?” she mused. “I wouldn’t have gotten the job.”

In addition to her brutal honesty, Laila is also fearless, according to the Practical Magic 2 star.

“This young soul is one of the bravest people I’ve ever met,” Bullock said of her daughter. “She really has no fear athletically, in her voice, in her telling somebody what she thinks. As hard as it is on me as a parent, if this is who she’s gonna go out into the world and be, she’s on the right path. I just have to put bumpers on her. She will run something like a country. She’s incredible.”
