Over the past few years, I’ve become an Adidas expert, owning more than seven pairs of the brand’s sneakers. Even though I love each and every pair, my Anne Hathaway- and Hilary Duff-worn Japan Shoes are the style I reach for over and over again.

After seeing these celebs style them, I wanted to test the sneakers myself. I was inspired by Hathaway pairing them with a monochromatic chocolate brown outfit that bridged the gap between dressed up and casual.Hilary Duff wore them with a matching workout set and white button-down for a put-together, everyday vibe. The sneakers’ versatility is what initially inspired me to try them for myself, especially with Hathaway and Duff styling them so differently. I love that they’re low profile with a relatively flat design that doesn’t feel clunky, while still sporting the iconic Adidas three-stripe logo. After owning a pair for a few months, I’ve styled them with a variety of outfits, like linen mini dresses, wide-leg cropped jeans, patterned skirts, and even a pair of dressy casual trousers, proving that they really do go with everything.

Style is only part of what’s required of good sneakers, though; they need to be functional, too. The Japan shoes absolutely fit the bill. I was initially skeptical of their support level because of the low heel, but after putting them on, I discovered that they kept my arch lifted and absorbed shock as I walked. In fact, I wore them around a downtown area right after receiving them, walking over two miles with zero foot pain. My feet have also never felt pinched or gotten a blister even after hours of wear.

Hathaway, Duff, and I aren’t the only lovers of the shoes, either. Reviewers said while they own multiple Adidas, the Japan style is “the most comfortable,” and they were able to wear them all day at work as their “feet did not hurt at all.” Others specifically praise them for having “comfy insoles” with one high school administrator that’s on their feet all day explaining that they walked 9,000 steps with “no issues.”
