Carley Fortune Announces Return to Barry’s Bay with ‘Only in Summer’

Bestselling romance author Carley Fortune announced the third installment of the Barry’s Bay book series, ‘Only in Summer,’ which is now available for preorder ahead of its May 18, 2027 release.

Carley Fortune is taking readers back to Barry’s Bay!

The bestselling romance author has revealed the third installment of the Barry’s Bay book series, Only in Summer. Fortune, 42, announced the forthcoming novel in an Instagram post on Thursday, Aug. 27.

She teased that the new novel will follow Eleanor Florek, the cousin of Charlie and Sam from Every Summer After and One Golden Summer. The born-and-raised Bay girl “finally bought her dream cottage, only to find the little place next door is being bulldozed to make way for a monstrous lake house and its mysterious owner,” Fortune teased in her Instagram caption. “See you on the lake!”

She confirmed the romance novel will be released on May 18, 2027, and is currently available for preorder.

The news of Only in Summer follows the recent release of the Every Summer After TV adaptation, Every Year After, which aired in June on Amazon Prime.

Fortune serves as an executive producer on the series and made her own cameo, telling PEOPLE that showrunner Amy B. Harris suggested she jump into a scene.

“Amy turned to me, and she was like, ‘You should be in there,’ ” she recalled of the scene in which she dances with Sadie Soverall‘s Percy at the Tavern. “That was pretty cool,” Fortune said of her on-screen moment. “I loved how the cameo played out with Sadie and I dancing, which was a move of Sadie’s making … it was really, really special.”

She added how fun it was for her to watch the show, saying, “Because you’re not just in Percy’s head, you get to see Sam and Charlie [Michael Bradway] at different points. You just get so much more access to the world and the characters.”

“I really just love it,” she said. “It has the heart and soul of the book. It feels like the book.”

Only in Summer is available for preorder before its release on May 18, 2027. All eight episodes of Every Year After are now streaming on Prime Video.
