Meghan Markle Steps Out in Princess Diana’s Diamond and Sapphire Earrings on Date Night with Prince Harry to Support David Foster

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously been seen on a double date with Foster and Katharine McPhee

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in Canada for a special cause.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex supported their friend David Foster at his event celebrating 40 years of fundraising for the David Foster Foundation. A gala was held on Friday, August 7, followed by a free concert at the Victoria Inner Harbour the following day.

For the occasion, Meghan, 45, wore the late Princess Diana’s diamond and sapphire earrings. Her accessory choice comes two weeks after Meghan and Harry shared a rare photo of their children Princess Lilibet, 5, and Prince Archie, 7, visiting Althorp, Princess Diana’s childhood home.

Meghan paired the earrings with a dress from Canadian designer Greta Constantine. Meanwhile Harry, 41, wore a classic black tuxedo with a matching bow tie.

Other attendees at the event on Friday, August 7 included Foster’s wife Katharine McPhee, Adam Levine and Josh Groban.

Meghan and Harry’s relationship with the music producer goes back years. In 2019, Foster arranged for the couple to stay at a mansion on Vancouver Island owned by a close friend, although he declined to name the owner.

“I felt honored that I was able to help Meghan there because I’m a Canadian, and we’re a Commonwealth country; we’re the Crown’s. It’s important to us, so I grew up with that kind of sentiment,” Foster told the Daily Mail. “I was really happy to be able to help them to find a respite just to take a little time off.”

He added, “The owner has allowed this to happen through me, and I was happy to facilitate. I don’t know what their next plans are, but I know that it was reinvigorating for them to spend some downtime. This is a great testament to my hometown of Victoria that they were able to go under the radar for so long.”

Later that year, after Meghan and Harry stepped back from their royal roles and relocated to California, they were spotted on a double date at Lucky’s Steakhouse in Montecito with McPhee and Foster.

After attending the same school together as teens, McPhee and the Duchess of Sussex reconnected, and their husbands also formed a bond.

“My husband has a really, really beautiful relationship with Harry,” McPhee told Access Hollywood in 2020. “They’re like, they’re so cute. They’re like father and son.”

“We just stay in touch with them,” the actress and singer continued. “But mostly, Meghan and I knew each other from childhood, but really Harry and my husband are friends. It’s really nice.”

Canada is a special place for Meghan and Harry. The former Suits actress was living in Toronto filming the show when their romance began, and they made their first public outing as a couple at the Toronto Invictus Games in 2017. In addition to spending their first holidays as a family of three in Vancouver in 2019, they returned to Vancouver for the 2025 Invictus Games.
