A Texas mother was arrested after a welfare check revealed that her three kids were living in dirty and unsafe conditions.

The mom of three, 28-year-old Keosha Hubbard-Woodson, was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 9, after police officers conducting the home visit found the children living in unsafe conditions in the Nacogdoches, Texas home, local ABC affiliate KTRE reported, citing an arrest affidavit.

Hubbard-Woodson — who was described as the kids’ “caregiver” in a police report shared by Nacogdoches newspaper The Daily Sentinel — was jailed and charged with three counts of endangering a child after officers found the children living in trash, without beds or running water, according to KTRE.

Police said the conditions of the Nacogdoches residence included rotting food, a significant insect infestation and feces belonging to a human or animal, KTRE reported, citing the affidavit.

There was also “an extreme amount of trash” found in the residence, according to the outlet.

Officers also described a lack of running water and noted the children had no access to suitable living or sleeping quarters at the residence, per the affidavit.

The children were also found wearing visibly soiled clothing, according to the document.

They also showed visible signs of untreated medical conditions, including skin conditions and severe stomach pain, per KTRE.

A spokesperson for the Nacogdoches Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Sunday, Aug. 23.

According to KTRE, emergency medical services were called to the home to provide treatment for Hubbard-Woodson’s children. Child Protective Services took custody of the kids after her arrest, the outlet reported.

As of Aug. 17, Hubbard-Woodson was being held in the Gregg County Jail without bond, per the Texas outlet.

It is unclear whether she has obtained legal representation.
