The Walking Dead: Dead City is well on its way through a third season.
The Walking Dead sequel series follows Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as former enemies who must work together to survive in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan.
The series also stars Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, Lisa Emery and Logan Kim, with Aimee Garcia, Raúl Castillo and Jimmi Simpson as new cast additions for season 3. Dead City initially premiered on AMC in 2023 and launched its third season, which consists of eight episodes, in July 2026.
“In Season 3, Maggie and Negan finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse, but when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city?” the official synopsis reads.

When did The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 premiere?
A little over a year after season 2 premiered, The Walking Dead: Dead City released its first season 3 episode, titled “Trillium,” on July 26, 2026.
The season 3 premiere picked up from where the dramatic season 2 finale left off, with Maggie and Negan as two wanted fugitives. During the episode, the Croat (Ivanek) is fatally injured by an explosion and dies in Negan’s arms.
How many episodes are left in The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3?
Season 3 of Dead City will include a total of eight episodes — so after the Aug. 30 episode, there are two episodes remaining.
The second season also consisted of eight episodes, while the first only had six episodes. Season 3 marks the first season with Seth Hoffman as showrunner after Eli Jorné left the series following seasons 1 and 2.
