‘Yellowjackets’ Reveals Final Season Premiere Date in Chilling Teaser: ‘This One’s Going to Sting’

‘Yellowjackets’ revealed the premiere date for its fourth and final season. Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress and Hilary Swank return as a chilling new teaser promises the “Final Reckoning” for the drama series.

The countdown to Yellowjackets’ final season has officially begun.

On Thursday, Aug. 20, Paramount+ announced that the drama series will return for its fourth and final season on Friday, Nov. 20, sharing a chilling teaser hinting at what’s to come for the stranded Wiskayok Yellowjackets soccer team.

The brief teaser opens on a static-filled television as the voice of a news anchor breaks through the interference.

“We are live with breaking news: The Wiskayok Yellowjackets have been found,” the anchor says.

The broadcast then appears to switch to another news update. “Hi, I’m Kurt Loder with an MTV News brief. Search and rescue teams in Canada. Search and rescue teams in Canada…” the voice says before fading out.

As the signal cuts in and out, one of the stranded players can be heard desperately screaming, “Can anyone hear me?”

The teaser then reveals the Nov. 20 premiere date before showing rows of television screens displaying the same ominous message: “The final reckoning.”

According to the official logline, the final season will see the survivors “race to bury their sins before rescue arrives” as “an old flame roars back into town with plans of her own.”

“Turns out not every homecoming is a joyous one, and this one’s going to sting,” the description teases.

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets follows a high school soccer team after their plane crashes in the remote northern wilderness. The series moves between the teenagers’ fight for survival and their descent into increasingly brutal factions, and the lives the survivors have attempted to build nearly 25 years later as adults.

The final chapter comes after season 3 left the Yellowjackets with plenty of unfinished business, and its cast previously warned PEOPLE that viewers were in for a major ending.

“The finale is so fun. We were very excited about it,” Nélisse told PEOPLE ahead of the season 3 closer, titled “Full Circle.”

Brown, who plays the teen version of Taissa Turner, had an even bigger reaction when she first read the script. “I think I dropped my script. I dropped it or threw it, I can’t remember. It might have been both,” she said. “It’s a big one. That one’s a doozy. I think people will be screaming at their TVs, like, oh my God, it’s such a good ending.”

Eaton, who portrays young Lottie Matthews, similarly remembered the cast’s excitement over the episode, saying, “Everyone had a good little scream. It was just like a badass moment in the last episode.”

Steven Krueger, whose Coach Ben Scott met a grisly end in episode 6, also said season 3 provided some long-awaited answers after years of mysteries.

“It’s nice to finally get some payoff, and I think fans are really going to indulge in that and appreciate the fact that we’ve been teasing out so many things for so long now,” he said. “It’s like, ‘Here’s your payoff season.’”

Yellowjackets has continued to grow its audience since its November 2021 debut. Paramount Global announced in February 2025 that the season 3 premiere drew just over 2 million viewers across Showtime and Paramount+, outperforming the previous season’s premiere, according to Variety. Deadline reported the following month that season 3 viewership on Paramount+ with Showtime was up 39% over season 2, excluding viewers who watched on Showtime’s linear channel.

Though the series will now conclude after four seasons, Lyle and Nickerson previously said they had envisioned roughly five installments to complete the story.

“The original plan was about five seasons, and we feel like we’re still on track for that,” Lyle told Entertainment Weekly in March 2023.

“I think that there are shows that can go forever, but I think that when you’re telling such a deeply serialized story and it’s about these characters’ lives, you want to reach a satisfying conclusion and not just drag things out forever,” she added. “This isn’t really one of those setup shows where it can go anywhere.”

Lyle later reiterated at Deadline’s Contenders TV panel that the creative team has long known where the story is ultimately headed.

“We pitched this show seven years ago. We have an endpoint in mind,” she said, explaining that while the writers knew their destination, they wanted to “leave some room for how we get there.”

Season 4 of Yellowjackets premieres Friday, Nov. 20, exclusively on Paramount+ with the Premium Plan. All three previous seasons are available to stream on Paramount+.
